I added a mod that lets you subscribe to comments via email. If you click the button it’ll send you an email when someone else replies. Only useful if I ever write anything worth discussing again (this blog-lite thing is good for me, bad for my readers).
Speaking of wordpress, I spent some time helping a friend move her site over (I’ll let you announce her launch so I won’t link yet) and it was terribly fun. I like learning how to do this stuff and every time it gets easier. I changed my official get me work! site to say that I can do some web site stuff.
I’ve got a very nice, equally insecure writing friend who isn’t a cheerful freelancer who has been helping me muddle through this. She’s in my in-real-life writing group and asking her for help is easier than asking other people for help because she is encouraging without being chipper. Also she has very dark sense of humor, which I enjoy in a fellow freelancer. (Yes, Leslie, I’m talking about you!)
Ok, I need to quit talking to my imaginary friends who live in my computer and write up my book reviews! (I have eight this month — hooray!) And also I need to create a plan for next week work-wise or I won’t get anything done. Madison-free time is at a premium these days!
Also, those of you who commented on the picture entry, I’ve been forwarding them on and they have been warmly received. (She chooses not to read my blog — I have mixed feelings about that, which I will discuss another time.)
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.
