I’m glad it’s nearly the weekend. I have one feature and several blurbs to write but the feature is half done and blurbs are generally pretty fun.
Things are smoothing out on the ePregnancy front. I have no idea what kind of craziness may still be happening for the Powers That Be and the Powers That Were, but down here in the peon level everything’s coming up roses. I got a promotion (all that empty space to fill, doncha know) and a raise and I have more assignments.
Sheri is ultra generous with help and advice and doesn’t mind my terribly ignorant little questions — she grades on a curve, I think. If I email her with a question she’s always quick to answer even if it’s not about the magazine; she’s given me lots of querying advice. I told her that I felt overwhelmed by the amount of work that went into querying and she laughed and said it becomes second-nature after awhile.
Sarah and her family are due to arrive in town tomorrow and they’re going to spend the night here. I’m really looking forward to it!!! My friends L. (I have 3 friends whose names start with L but she knows who she is) and H. are coming to play that night, too. H. and Sarah know each other from a couple of message boards and I’m glad they’re going to get to meet up!
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.
