He’s forty-(mumble mumble). No, he doesn’t care. I can tell you. He’s 42. We met just before he turned 24 so you can see that I’m going on knowing this guy for a long time. How is he celebrating, you ask? By running the kids around and packing me a lunch. I know — it’s a dream come true, right?
Can’t write more — there’s work to be done!
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.

lol, i remember reading a post where your hubby on his birthday got a turkey sandwhich (figuratively speaking) when he deserved a parade.
ha, i wonder if that turkey sandwhich is looking good to brett right about now
and wow — i did not know that you met him when you were around /my/ age. did you write about how you met him? maybe i’ll plug some keywords in to find a post of yours… i remember you writing about other men you dated — including a cute blonde ? who you asked out ? who was terribly shy around your friends (i have such a terrible memory) — but i’m not sure if i remember you writing about you meeting brett?
hm. i wonder if the future-spouse of my dreams is due to waltz into /my/ life now, then, huh?

Happy birthday Brett! I would say running the kids around and packing a lunch is definitely a dream come true. I mean, not for most people, but probably for Brett.

Hope Brett’s day was as happy as mine!
