I woke up at 3:30am with a head cold and couldn’t get back to sleep until six. My head is heavy, stuffed with cotton and I’m having trouble focusing. But I’ve got work to do so I’m going to hit the coffee and muscle through. If I get enough caffeine in me, I think I’ll be able to wake up enough to make a dent in my to-do list but I’m sure as heck skipping the networking meeting I was considering tomorrow night.
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.

Oh! I hope you got to feel better today. I know how hard this can be at times, having so many mountains of work to do and not feeling up to it. Thank you for posting. I have been reading your blog and enjoying how similar many lives can be. Your words are beautiful.

Yck. Sorry to hear it. This is the truly sucky part about self employment (that and no holiday pay, no security, no superannuation and in the states, no insurance!). Hope it goes away quickly.
