Eve gifted us with a new-to-us loveseat and so we are sitting in comfort again in our living room! And I finally put sheers up so that we could take down the blinds and bring some more light in. I love our blinds — they’re original to the house, the old fat-slatted kind from the early 60s — but they blocked too much light out in that room. Eve even dispatched her husband to help move the couch. Brett kept calling him “Peter” because D. reminds him of this guy he used to work with and Madison kept referring to him as “Steven.” D’s name doesn’t sound anything like Steven so we’re not sure where she got that.
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.

We have a sort-of-new-to-us-love-seat too. It is a hand-me-down from my sister and at least 25 years old. It was at my parent’s house for the past six years and they bought a new one. We were couchless for the past year after throwing away the really beat-up couch that matched this love seat, so I was happy to get it. I bought new chair covers and we are happy loungers again!
Isn’t it great to have a sofa big enough for everyone to cuddle on?
