I was going to stay home and rest because I came home from work to more work and I was a little hammered. But my Smart Cookie phone rang and I happened to be here (what with the working) so I answered it and it was Leslie and she said, “Hey, you wanna go see Eddie Izzard tonight?” And I said, “YES!” And so she took me to go see Eddie Izzard! (Her husband was too sick to go, which I felt bad about except when I was giddy with joy that I got to go because sometimes I’m selfish like that!)
Eddie Izzard!
And you know what? He was FABULOUS!
I’m intrigued by charisma because I don’t know where it comes from and I can’t quite figure it out but I do know that Eddie Izzard has charisma for days. When he came out on stage he got a standing ovation just for walking out on stage. I mean, you could feel his energy as soon as he stepped out. It was amazing. It was like a rock star only with less effort. Truly, everyone in the audience kind of gasped and then leapt up applauding. Now I wonder what it’s like to get that kind of reception!
Anyway, he was hilarious and my face hurt from laughing for 2+ hours. I had so much fun plus I got to see Leslie and I haven’t seen her to really talk in what seems like years. (Our writing group hasn’t been able to hook up for awhile.) That was awfully nice, too.
And after saying, “YES!” to go I said, “My sister will be so jealous!” (she was) and then I thought of beanmom and her copious use of Eddie Izzard icons.
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Open Book Strategies with my husband.

I saw him twice in London over 10 years ago and laughed and laughed. We own three of his DVDs and regularly treat ourselves to them. the DVD of his tour of USA in about 2000 is very funny.
