Thanks to Nicole, who does me an honor I’m not sure I deserve.

And I’m passing it on.
For my personal heroes:
Lisa V, who has always been generous with her advice, her attention and her support.
Julia, who is never short of encouragement and does so much for the PKD Foundation even though her plate is already full.
Kateri, who is an amazing role model for her daughters and all girls everywhere.
Marley, who has committed her life to good causes to benefit the whole wide world.
and
Yondalla, who not only devotes her time to kids who need her but devotes more time to rest of us who need her voice.
(Did you notice my blog is new? I upgraded to a faster theme because I need to figure out how to make Julia’s blog less slow, too.)
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.

Bravo! Dawn, you definitely deserve the award and your choices were spot on. Thank you for not only sharing your own journey through parenting, adoption, and every day life but for creating a venue for those of us in open adoptions to read, share and learn.

Thank you so much! I’m floored. Mainly I see myself as a mean nasty much-hated person. You do wonderful work yourself. How do you find the time to blog a few times a day and make it interesting and relevant? Bastardette passed it on on Sat.
