April Fool’s day is our anniversary. We got married on a Friday at the courthouse in Portland, OR. I wore a black and white polkadot wrap skirt and a nice blazer. Brett wore a black sports coat and a striped tie. It was the first week of school and I cut my classes to get hitched.

Most of the pictures we have are a little out of focus because my brother — who had the camera — had been up all night taking the train cross country to get there. My favorite picture is when the judge is officially pronouncing us husband and wife and we’re both of us crying. I’m trying to smile my way out of my tears and Brett is nervously biting his lower lip. We look terribly young (I was 24 and he was 27 so not so young but it sure seems that way now), extremely happy and my how thin!

Happy (lucky) 13th anniversary to Brett — I couldn’t get along without you!
