Came home to 109 blog posts in my reader. Yikes. Luckily my inbox wasn’t as bad because I checked in all day in my iPod. God bless the iPod Touch.
Got to talk to Julia tonight after a long, long time. Way too long. Life is better with Julia in it!!!
Tomorrow isn’t as busy. I’m getting started on a client project that’s been waiting on some info and I need to prepare for a workshop I’m giving Thursday morning and a training I’m leading Thursday afternoon. Also I have an interview thingie in the morning. Then Thursday potluck!!! Then Friday will be quieter ’til late afternoon when I’ve got a phone conference then Madison has her first soccer practice and I think there’s dinner with friends (not sure about that part). But! Still quieter because at least tomorrow I don’t have to leave the house at all on Wednesday and not until late on Friday.
I got a great pep talk from my dad this afternoon after my meeting. He helped me focus on how to do some things I wanted to do but wasn’t sure how.
Sometimes there are lights at the end of tunnels!
Somebody was calling Brett’s cell phone all night last night and he couldn’t just turn it off because he uses it as his alarm clock so we are wicked tired. It’s 10am and I’ve been up for a little less than five hours already so I sent Noah off on his bike to get me a Diet Coke from the CVS at the edge of our neighborhood. (See, the real reason we moved here isn’t just so Noah could walk to the library and have a paper route and other Mayberry things but also so he could fetch and carry for me.) He just got home with Skittles to split with Madison, which is the bribe — he can keep the change and buy a treat.
So I’m on the phone with Abby – work stuff, totally not a fun conversation because we are serious workers — and she mentions her kids are just waking up and haven’t even had breakfast and I, of course, take the opportunity to tell her what a lousy mother she is what with it being 10am and her kids not having eaten. (She selfishly goes for a run every morning when she could be at home grinding her own wheat for homemade pancakes and I think it’s high time someone called her on it.) Then Noah pointed out — mouth full of Skittles — that he hasn’t had breakfast either.
Yes, I made my 11-year old ride to the store on an empty stomach to buy me my drug of choice and then placated him with Skittles. (snicker)
My own phone down in the office with unlimited long distance (it’s a cable phone) just for work! I’m so excited! (Oooh, the guy is here and hooking it up even as I type!)
I still haven’t ordered my new business cards though because the ones I want are kinda expensive and we haven’t had the budget for ‘em just yet. Kind of a problem because that wonky free voicemail? When it shuts down I can’t leave a message saying I have a new phone. That renders all of my current business cards obsolete.
So now I have about 500 business cards (more than that — I’ve handed out a bunch but I also bought 500 for Brett, argh) that are glossy and printed on both sides. I can’t just throw them away because that seems so environmentally bad but I don’t know what else I can do with them. My old, old business cards I use to take notes because they have a blank back and they’re not glossy. Any ideas? (The kids thought they were interesting for about five minutes so handing ‘em off to them isn’t going to do it.)
I’ll probably just keep them forever.
Must publish this now — cable is about to be turned off!
