I’m pretty on the inside!

Yes, yesterday I went for my mid-cycle ultrasound and my RE said that my follicles were “gorgeous” and my uterine lining was “beautiful!” What does that mean? It means that all systems are go. Then they gave me an hCG shot to get my ovary to go ahead and ovulate and sent me home with instructions to have sex for the next two nights. I’m knocking wood all over the house that this might be our month.

I feel very positive about this plan because everything I’ve read says that this is an appropriate way to treat a luteal phase defect like mine. If it doesn’t work this month, I think it’ll work eventually. What is my luteal phase defect, you ask? Why, let me share:

I have biphasic charts meaning that it looks like I ovulate regularly;

I have lots of eggwhite cervical fliud meaning, again, that to all appearances, I ovulate;

My luteal phase is about 12 days which is low but not alarming;

I have incredibly low progesterone indicating that the above three signs are bunk and there’s no way I can sustain a pregnancy without help.
So this is what they do. They give me clomid to rev up my ovaries; they give me hCG to perfect my lining and our timing; and they give me progesterone supplements for the second half of my cycle as a safeguard.

I’m high as a kite but my butt is sore from the hCG shot. And my ovaries are sore per usual ovulation but slightly amped due to all the pharmaceuticals.

Today we’re looking to buy a car. Poor Old Betsy. She’s been a good car despite the heinous fumes, the lapbelts only, and the tendency to conk out as a person is making a left-hand turn in an intersection. She’s a steel-bodied tank, ugly as sin, and a gas hog. Noah sits behind his Britax laptop so low in the seat that he can’t see out the windows and I don’t think the carseat (the only one that was for sale in Columbus that worked with our car) is the safest but he’s encased in steel so I felt like it was fine ’til we got a new (to us) car.
In case you’re wondering, Old Betsy is a 1984 Monte Carlo.
