Tuneful Tuesday: Hush
I forgot Music Mondays but that’s ok because we can just switch it to Tuneful Tuesday.
Today’s Jane Siberry song is “Pontchartrain” from her album of lullabyes, Hush. Note how she’s layered her voice and it gains resonance as the story moves forward and then peaks when she sings “I asked her if she’d marry me…” before drifting back down to her solitary voice. I think that part is incredibly romantic. (sigh)
Ahhh, I love this song! Listen to it here.
By the way, I can’t get my burner to work (damn OS X!) so it may be some time before I get those lullaby CDs done. I’m very frustrated by this because I wanted to get it to Alisa before Peanut arrived. Drat!

Music Monday: Lovin’ Cup
Being that it’s a grey, gloomy day spitting rain and the kitchen sink is full of cake-encrusted dishes, I needed something to cheer me up right away. Jane is just the ticket with this jaunty, jazzy little number from her album Maria. This is such a lush CD and doesn’t require the listener’s attention in quite the same way that When I was a Boy does. Not that it isn’t worth careful listening — it’s a great CD for a quiet afternoon when the baby is sleeping — but I listen to it all of the time while I’m doing other things like cleaning house.
By the way, if you have recently acquired a baby, are about to acquire a baby, are feverishly working to acquire a baby or have anyone living with you who was once a baby and you would like a lullaby mix CD, please email me with your snail address because I’m thinking I’d like to make one.
