Hooray! Good news from the miracle baby doctor today. We met to discuss the SHG results and his recommendation? Clomid. But then we said we weren’t sure if we were interested in going straight to fertility drugs. I told him I was working on diet and exercise and then we could come back in January if things haven’t improved, i.e., no baby is in sight. He was very approving. He said that he would prefer to do things that way but that many of his patients were (understandably) much more driven about getting pregnant. I suppose I might be, too, if I was older (I’m 31, a “spring chicken” in the doctor’s words) and didn’t already have a baby.
Anyway, I feel good about this. I’m glad we got a diagnosis and I’m glad that it’s something that I may be able to manage on my own. At least not being horribly fertile has gotten me exercising again and I’m eating better.
Frankie’s first birthday party is this weekend. As always, it’s unbelievable that he’s a year old already. Or will be here in a few days. My my my, [shaking my head like an old-timey lady in a straw bonnet] time certainly does fly!
I have two kids and a delightfully odd husband, Brett. My children are Noah (born to us in 1997) and Madison (born to her first mom, Pennie, in 2004 and brought to our family through a domestic, open adoption). They are my inspiration and also the reason I don't get more done around here.
I'm a writer and sometimes I get published, which is a nice thing. I write for joy, I write for money and when I'm very lucky, both things happen at the same time. My work appears in national publications including Yoga Journal, Disney's Family.com, Utne, Wondertime, Brain Child and Salon. Currently I am working on a book about my daughter's adoption and seeking representation for the proposal. I also own Smart Cookie Communications with my husband.
