Actually I’d like to thank all of you for winning this for me with your clicky fingers and blog links (from — in alphabetical order — Heather and Jay and Jenna and Jess and Lilian and Malinda and Margie and Resistance and Sang-Shil and  Shannon and Singout and Thorn). (If I missed someone, please let me know!) Also for your facebook shares and twitter posts!

"Best" Adoption Blog

The voting has already started for the next level but I don’t have it in me. I am woozy and semi-feverish and really, this is so nice and plenty. Besides which Jenna and I are going to get that thousand bucks for Ethica in a way that won’t give all of our friends carpal tunnel!!! Also I have no problem telling you that Ethica is deserving of a whole lot of noise but I’m done trying to convince you that I am.

By the way the fact that the best Adoption Blog is a Mommy Blog category (even though some of the best, most thoughtful and most enlightening writings we have on adoption are from the adopted people themselves) and that there were no First Mom blogs in the running means that we need to start thinking about next year, right?

I like winning this contest, really. It means a lot. But I also kinda feel like I won a race where 2/3 of the best people weren’t even invited to run so it’s lovely but by no means definitive. I’m grateful but humbled, too. And now I’m going to go get some ibuprofen and have a quick lie down.

I had a post, but don’t worry about linking to it. Just rest and feel better!

  2. Ally says:

Whoo hoo – congrats! I was all set to argue with you about continuing on and went over to vote (and did) and saw how many other blogs are up and how sugar coated oogy they are and even though I will continue to vote for you, I understand.

  3. Heather says:

    Congratulations!

  4. Delia says:

    Way to go, Dawn!

i would have posted about the contest, but no one really reads my blog except my facebook friends, so i figured it was redundant to post both places, lol! and i tried to stay up til midnight last night but fell asleep on the couch at 11:00 and woke up again after voting had closed …. so i’m so so glad you won!!

  6. Jenna says:

I think it’s awesome how my three favorite blogs in the finalists for “Best Of” are all planning on donating their big winnings should they win.

    I love the Internet. :)

  7. Tracy says:

    Congratulations Dawn!

  8. Congrats Dawn! I voted for you and tweeted, FB’ed,but haven’t been blogging much lately. You deserved to win girl!

  9. Jess says:

Congrats, congrats. What’s the next level??? Obviously, you won. I am sooooo glad. I felt a bit bad for describing your neck-and-neck competitor as “pap” because when it came up in the Google alerts there was the whole unflattering sentence in the first line. . .

    But I got over it.

    Yay you!

    Dawn,

    This win is GLORIOUS!!!!

Because not only do you deserve it on the merits, but because it was the triumph of keeping it real over unicorns, rainbows, ladybugs and red threads that CHOKE much talk about adoption.

It is the Dawn of a new day!

  11. Jess says:

Hmm, I notice Little Miracles is an editor’s pick and she isn’t even an ADOPTIVE PARENT

  12. Jess says:

Whoops–hit that button way too soon. No doubt this is what you were referring to, M. (about PAPS)

But everyone, the contest isn’t over. We have to get Dawn to the next level.

  13. Margie says:

Woo hoo! Congratulations! This is so well deserved, Dawn

Just let us know what we have to do to get you to that next level, and we’ll go for it.

  14. Cassi says:

    Congratulations.

    You deserved it!!!

    Yeah…..I was wondering about this.
