Things that are broken around here

  1. The dishwasher (and I’m sick of washing dishes)
  2. The van’s back brakes (Brett replaced the front brakes last weekend; he’ll do the back this weekend)
  3. Our air conditioner (as you know and surely sympathize)
  4. My camera (this is the replacement camera Kodak sent after our first one broke the exact same way. EasyShare, you suck!)
  5. My heart (because my camera is broken and I can’t take pictures of my beautiful, adorable children doing beautiful, adorable things)
  6. The shower (we still don’t have one. It’s been about three years. Brett promises we will soon)
  7. Brett’s promises (because he’s been saying I’d have a shower soon for going on three years now)
  8. My work laptop, (which chose to go on strike yesterday before I even had my coffee. It hates me and I hate it right back. No, I lie. I love it and miss it! Work laptop! Please come back to me!)

Things that are working around here:

  1. Brett and me both. (Which is a small miracle in this economy)
  2. My marriage (despite the broken shower promises. Good thing I love him or I’d be so outta here. To somewhere with showers.)
  3. This caffeine I’m drinking. (Natch.)
  4. My kids (one is cleaning his room unbidden and the other is actually picking up after herself. Mostly.)
  5. My Mac (bite me, work PC laptop! No, wait — I didn’t mean it! Come back! Come back!)

Did you see Kris B’s Facebook post asking for things that can be broken? That’s what the title of this made me think of, before I even read it. (My contribution to her list? Horses.)

At least you aren’t bathing at the house of a relative or friend. But it all doe suck (the broken things, not the marriage).

I’ve always believed you deserved running water in the bathroom.

See, this just makes me glad that we don’t have a dishwasher or a shower in our house, because it’s going to be SO INCDRECIBLY GREAT when we do get them, whereas having them and then losing them would be awful. Your things that are working sound pretty good to me, but I’d be really frustrated by the other list.

The shower thing definitely is worth complaining about. Three years! You tell Brett from the internets that he needs to make good on that promise now!
