Filling out a meme is like taking a blog break. But because they can be boring to the rest of y’all, I will put it below the cut!

1. Do you like blue cheese salad dressing?

Gak. I mean, no.

2. Favorite late night snack?

Like get out of bed because your stomach is growling? Cold cereal. Like sitting on the couch all comfy with Brett and the children are miraculously asleep and there’s nothing we need to be doing like laundry or editing and there’s some good television on? Ice cream.

3. Do you own a gun?

Goodness no!

4. What’s your favorite drink at Starbucks or other specialty coffee shop?

Mocha-ish something if it’s not too sweet.

5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments?

Oh god, yes. I totally have white coat syndrome.

6. What do you think of hot dogs?

I don’t care for ‘em. And it breaks my heart to see the children at dime a dog night at a Clippers game.

7. Favorite Christmas song?

It changes. But here’s something odd — I picked Noah up from Hebrew tonight and the facilities guy was playing Christmas music. Christmas music in early November at my synagogue. Only in America!

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?

Water. A big glass of water first thing. Coffee after.

9. Can you do push-ups?

I don’t think so (I haven’t tried lately so I would assume no).

10. What’s your favorite piece of jewelry?

I only wear my engagement ring so I guess it’d be that!

11. Favorite hobby?

Writing, obviously. Then reading. Them messing with wordpress. Ha!

12. Do you have A.D.D.?

I’m pretty sure not.

13. What’s one trait that you hate about yourself?

Hate is strong language, oh meme author. There are things I wouldn’t mind changing but hate? No way. As for what one thing I wouldn’t mind changing, I wish I didn’t get bored so quickly.

14. The last disease you contracted?

My kid’s cold.

15. Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment.

My shoulder hurts (from mouse-ing), I’m gloomy (from too much social stimulation this evening), I wish I had a book to read (I finished my novel this morning)

16. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink?

Water, coffee … That’s it. There’s nothing else I regularly drink. (Hmmm, that seems weird to me now.)

17. Current worry right now?

Getting my to-do list done and staying on top of it.

18. Current hate right now?

That I’m off my work-out schedule. Bah. (That would also explain some of #15’s gloominess and some of #17’s worry)

19. Favorite place to be?

Just before I fall asleep in bed.

20. How did you ring in the New Year?

I have no idea. New Year’s isn’t a holiday that interests me much. I’m sure I was here and I think I went to bed before midnight but I’m not sure.

21. Like to travel?

No. I like to visit other places but I don’t like to get there. I’d like to beam myself places like a CNN hologram and dispense with all that packing and stuff.

I have no idea if three people will even READ this.

23. Do you own slippers?

I have these torn, trodden-down wool slippers that live under my computer desk to protect me from the cement floor down here and I just bought Airwalk crocs at the thrift store as my house shoes. But I keep wearing them out of the house accidentally. They are HOUSE shoes; they’re not supposed to leave the house.

24. What color shirt are you wearing?

Black.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?

I never have but it sounds chilly.

26. Can you whistle?

Somewhat.

27. Favorite singer/band?

Right this minute? (Because it will change if you ask me an hour from now) Nanci Griffith/Elbow.

28. Could you ever make it 39 days on the show Survivor?

God no. I’m so whiny that I’d be first voted off. That’s a joke Brett and I have actually — me on a reality show. Just the thought of it makes him laugh.

29. What songs do you sing in the shower?

I don’t sing in the shower but I sing while I’m cooking. Usually old showtunes (think Gershwin or Cole Porter)

I don’t have any right now (that’s the kind of thing you think about when you’re not done having kids

I don’t have any pockets.

Madison, probably.

Most of the time.

36. Do you love where you live?

In Ohio? Again, most of the time. In my neighborhood? Generally. In this house? Eh.

37. How many TVs do you have in your house?

One that works and one that doesn’t.

38. Who is your loudest friend?

All my friends are pretty loud except my friend Lis who’s so quiet that I can’t hear her on certain phones. She can’t help it — she’s gentile like that.

39. Do you drive the speed limit or speed?

Maybe a few miles over but Brett is a terrible back seat driver about that so I’m getting better.

40. Does someone have a crush on you?

My husband better or I’m kicking him to the curb.

41. What is your favorite book?

This question is always on memes and I think it needs to be more specific. So “What’s your favorite book about dolls that are alive or come to life?” Rumer Godden’s Miss Happiness and Miss Flower even though the aliveness of the dolls is way underplayed. Or maybe the Raggedy Ann stories, which I find unbearably maudlin as an adult but adored as a child. (I should get those out to read to Maddie soon.)

42. What is your favorite candy?

Butterfingers.

43. Favorite Sports Team?

None.

44. What were you doing 12 AM last night?

Reading.

45. What was the first thing you thought of when you woke up today?

I wonder if I can sneak out of bed without waking up Madison? (The answer to that was NO.)
