A few more days

So sayeth the electric company (according to That Patti, whose house is in our block but on the street behind us).

But there is more good news than bad electrical news. The good news includes:

• Brett got three job offers in two days and took the one he likes best.

• My friend is the editor at a nifty web site and has sent me a couple of nice assignments. (That phone interview was for one and my contact missed it so all my worrying was for nothing! We’re rescheduling for when I have power!)

• I got another job offer and am waiting to hear about details. Even if they’re not hugely lucrative, the job is fun enough that probably I would do it anyway. Don’t tell them that. Tell them I don’t work cheap.

• Other client work is waiting patiently on the horizon.

Plus the sun is still shining and the skies are still blue! And my elliptical trainer works whether or not it’s plugged in and this, my friends, is what makes the difference for many of my days!

I want to write about what is apparently my midlife crisis but I don’t have enough caffeine in me today and I’m just giving this week up as a wash. At least my mom finally got me hooked up with her wifi!

  1. hurray for good news! let’s hope the run of good things extends to the restoration of power…

  2. WOW!! All of it such WOW!!!

  3. I’m glad you have so much good news! I wish I knew a lumberjack that I could send to your neighborhood.

  4. Wow! Good news! Here’s to electricity soon…

  5. Sorry to hear of your (lack of) electricity woes… that must be so frustrating. But glad that you have good news to balance things out!

  6. Well, as I recently described to you, I very much doubt that your midlife crisis could possibly represent poorer judgment than mine! So don’t bother worrying about that. Good luck with the electricity. I almost head-butted a couple of smartie pants people at the laundromat on Wednesday night who were whooping it up because theirs had just come back on. Damn their celebration…while I was still without! Ours did kick in early Thursday morning. I will be digging out from my remaining mountain of dirty laundry for another week or so. Hang in there!!!!!

  7. OH, 3 offers in two days?? AWESOME! And I hope you get your new job(s) too… maybe this will help with the midlife crisis thing… (I have to try and prepare myself for it, actually…)

  8. glad to hear there is an end in sight. and funny that it is easier to hook up wifi than a fridge.

  9. The good stuff is all that sweet karma you built up, coming back at you. The lousy stuff is just bad luck. :)

  10. This may be irrelevant by now, but your homeowner’s insurance policy may have paid for a generator for you through all of this (ours would have if anyone had them in stock). You can also make a claim for lost food without having it require paying a deductible (most likely).

I can’t imagine having to go so long without the electricity–mine came back on last Tuesday, and that was enough to drive me nuts. My poor neighbors just got theirs back today, though, and there are still thousands more in my area without power.

  11. Thanks Katie! We hadn’t done a major grocery shopping so what we lost was mostly condiments, salad dressing, eggs and butter (the kinds of things that seem to be in your fridge no matter what). But the generator thing is good to know!!
