  1. Ugh. If there’s one thing you don’t screw around with “misremembering” it should be your child’s adoption, because it’s not yours, it’s THEIR STORY (something we have all learned from your blog, Dawn–thanks).

  2. They’re ALL POLITICIANS, aren’t they? I guess it’s just up to us to vote for the one who will cheat and lie for things WE believe in.

    I need a shower now.

  3. *sigh* I am SO disappointed this year with the republicans :( I just can’t see myself pulling the lever for McCain any more than I can see myself pulling it for Obama :(

  4. Both stories are obnoxious. Doesn’t matter whether it was nameless nuns or Mother Teresa “Herself.” Both stories highlight the patheticness of Bridget the lucky little girl with the ugly face rescued and made beautiful by the kindness of rich Americans.

And they are letting this crap circulate about their kid? This “undeserving orphan waif” crap?

It’s funny. I was just thinking about an incident this morning that made my kids out to be undeserving orphan waifs and got all mad again, even though it happened two years ago. I would never allow such a tone to be taken in a public telling of my kid’s adoption story.

  5. OMFG.

That is completely outrageous. Even leaving aside the ethical violations in lying about what happened when it was never theirs to tell let alone make political hay from—how exactly did Bridget’s legal status get straightened out?

As a parent of a foreign born pathetic waif, I demand an answer. We were not told about the special box to check on the immigration form, FBPR-5, to get the Foreign Born Pathetic Waif visa exemption. Was a private bill passed, or did the INS legalize her immigration status retroactively? If so, on what pretext?

And finally, where do I hire the skywriter to tell the so-called investigative journalists that this is a more interesting story about family choices and corruption than, say, the Edwards Affair?

  6. Thanks for the plug. Somebody commented (maybe somebody from here) on Bridget’s legal status. This to me to worrying if there is something hinky about this that Bridget may not be a citizen and could be subject to deportation as is happening to some adoptees today due to irregularities (the fault of adopters, agencies, INS). (sorry for the run-on sentence) I suppose her social and political status would save her, but I don’t like the implications of this screwed-up story.

BTW, the essence of the story that I remember from years ago was that Cindy brought Bridget home without McCain’s knowlelge or consent Boy, they must have had some interesting conversations over that!

  7. Lying scumbags.

Just add that to McCain’s firm belief that war is the answer to nearly everything.
