I just found out that the book I’m going to be in? The Rebecca Walker one? ZZ Packer has a piece in it.
I love her. I LOVE HER. I’m all star struck, seriously. ZZ PACKER!!
I very nearly feel like I hit the big time! (zz packer! wheeeee!!!!)
You know, I really ought to write something again sometime. Or something. I’ll get my writing groove back on eventually, won’t I? Right? (sigh)
(And of course I still have this awful fear that the book will come out and Rebecca will say, “Oh I forgot to tell you — we decided to cut your essay out. I mean, ZZ Packer kinda set a high bar and you were bringing us down. Sorry about that.” You know what Mel Brooks says, “Hope for the best, expect the worst.”)

Yep, I think that’s going to happen. Or, you know what, maybe ZZ Packer came in at the last minute, and she didn’t have any more pages left, so she booted you for ZZ Packer. But at least then you’ll kind of be like Sir Walter Raleigh laying down his cloak for Elizabeth I: laying down your essay for your idol: an honorable fate, if not a fame-building one…
