Meme below the cut

I’m trying to stay out of Brett’s way while he moves the furniture (the steam cleaner people are coming in an hour) and I’m bored. So a meme.

Swiped from Neveridle!

1) In five words, explain what ended your last friendship?
Denial. Jerk husband. Hurt daughter. (Not necessarily in that order.)

2) How was your prom night?
We didn’t go to prom. We went to a party in the North Ghetto (could be that Kristen was there before we knew each other). My ex-boyfriend threw beer all over me for being there with another boy and later on when my new boyfriend said the smell was making him a little sick, I took my shirt off and we both found that amusing. Ahh, to be 17 again! (Well, not really.)

3) Do you have any famous relatives?
No. My cousin is the drummer for Grand Archives but I don’t think he’s famous yet.

4) Have you taken out loans to pay for college?
Oh my yes. Bane of my existence. Let’s not speak of this again.

5) What did you receive last in the mail?
A check from a client.

6) What beverages have you drank today?
Water and coffee.

7) Do you leave nasty messages on people’s answering machines?
Not even in my wayward youth.

8 ) What’s the most painful surgical procedure you’ve had done?
The only surgical procedure I’ve had done was getting my tonsils taken out when I was 12. It was no picnic.

9) What is out your back door?
A sagging cement patio and a zillion plastic toys belonging to my darling daughter and all of which were trash picked because one never needs to buy plastic backyard toys in this neighborhood — we just share ‘em around by putting ‘em on the curb.

10) Do you usually go out on the weekends?
Not if I can help it.

11) Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?
I haven’t been swimming in the ocean since I was a kid. When we get to the ocean nowadays it’s generally too cold to swim.

12) Have you ever visited a planetarium or do you even know what one is?
Of course.

13) What is your favorite flavor of pudding?
I like rice pudding. I like bread pudding.

14) Describe your keychains:
Because we only have one car, we share our keys and they don’t have a keychain. They have a lot of storecards and the car door unlocker thingie.

15) Where do you keep your change?
Either in the zip pocket of my wallet or in a glass dish on our bedroom dresser.

16) When was the last time you got up and spoke in front of a large crowd?
The GCAC gig was about 20-some people so maybe that counts? Not too large though.

17) What kind of winter coat do you have?
It’s a funny light purple coat that is not really me but it was on clearance.

18) What was the weather like on your graduation day?
I didn’t go to my high school graduation and my college graduation was inside so I can’t remember.

19) Do you sleep with the door to your bedroom open or closed?
Open.

20) Is there anything purple within 20 feet of you?
I have a stack of review books on the top shelf of my desk here and one of them has a purple binding.

21) What is the strangest thing you’ve put in the microwave?
That’s a weird question. I have no idea. (We don’t currently have a microwave.)

22) Can you speak any Japanese?
Ohio.

23) Do you look good in the color yellow?
Nope.

24) Do you spit or smoke?
Nope.

25) What is your favorite color(s)?
Blue. Yellow. Green. (In that order but not all kinds of yellow.)

26) Ever played an instrument?
Oboe in fifth grade.

27) Do you believe in Bigfoot, or Sasquatch?
I did when I was a kid but it was the seventies and everybody did. I mean, everybody under 12.

28) Ever been to a palm reader?
I don’t think so. I went to a psychic in New Orleans in the French Quarter but I think she read Tarot cards. Maybe she read my palm — I can’t remember.

29) Did they tell you the truth about your future?
She did. She told me I’d have a big move in the next X years and my friend hoped it would mean me moving to New Orleans but actually I moved to Portland.

30) What are you thinking about at this very moment?
That the kids are being particularly whiny today. (I can hear them upstairs.)

31) Have you ever received a black eye?
I gave myself two by smacking myself in the nose with my racket trying to do a backhand at tennis practice. My ego was even more bruised than my face.

32) What is your biggest current disappointment?
Those student loans this meme was asking about.

33) What are some of your favorite drinks?
Water. And there was a particular Diet Coke I’d get in Portland before my 9am class. It came out of one of those machines that spit out the cup, then the ice (tiny little hollow pellets) then the Diet Coke. The syrup was so strong that it tasted almost bitter and I loved it.

34) Do you have anything that hurts on your body at this time?
My neck but what else is new. (It’s not so bad today.)

35) Have you ever ridden in a taxi?
Yes.

36) What is the last alcoholic drink you had?
I think it was one of those hard cider thingies and I think I had it at my dad’s reunion because I had a massive tension headache and ibuprofen wasn’t cutting it.

37) Did you do anything special last night?
No.

38) What is your very favorite food?
I don’t have one today.

Could be-what year was that-maybe 87-89? If so, I was there. Second door in on the south side. Maybe #5 or #7. We had a poster that said SHE-RA lives here.

That party was in 86. But then I had a friend who lived two doors up from there on the south side. A whole group of guys and this name was … Tim? I can’t remember but he had gorgeous eyelashes!
