Madison’s desk

We got Madison a new desk. Our neighbor two doors down was throwing away a beautiful old wooden desk with stylized pulls and a formica top. We grabbed it (along with a bunch of fancy wooden hangers) and when Madison saw it she asked if it could be hers to have “like Noah.” So we cleared some things out of her teeny-tiny room and put the desk in there while she was napping.

When she woke up and headed into her room, she laughed to see it. It’s such a joy to surprise her with things because her glee spills out and she jumps and claps her hands and laughs. It makes me want to give her the moon (or a kitten — I’m having serious kitten yearning, which I blame on Abby).

Madison likes to write in her journal everyday — like Noah. Now she is more like him because she has a top drawer in her own desk for her journal and her pens and her smelly crayons that Daddy picked up at Office Depot. She has her own chair and lots of treasures in the other three drawers. She has the old fax machine to use as a computer and a phone and she put her toy microwave (Christmas present from Pennie) because she also wanted her own tv on there.

She is very proud. And she is the cutest thing going.

  1. I can totally see the glee spilling out. That girls needs a kitten. ;)

  2. You can have James ,smelly, I don’t always use the litter box, I have ring worm, Cooter! And as far as the desk-I am jealous. I love the idea of a new fresh space to organize and get to work at! Or I could just try to organize all I’ve already got!

  3. I know just the place to find her a kitty! http://www.restaurantwidow.com/2008/07/please-adopt-us.html

  4. Amber, that’s so funny you wrote that! Because that’s where I linked in the entry! And my friend Abby got one of her kittens (she’s the other person I linked).

  5. Kitties! Kitties are sooooooooo cute! and funny! And they also kill birds so we don’t feed birds anymore which makes us sad because we like birds. And they’ve been domesticated for only about 5,000 years (compare to evidence of dogs and humans from about 30,000 years) — which is part of the charm. They’re not really tame. Not really.

  6. Well, Dawn, I guess all the cool women in Columbus know about the Restaurant Widow. :)

  7. oooh, she’s the cutest, yes she is. I’d also want to give her the world! Kittens/ cats are wonderful, we love our cat and I want more.
