It might be just the ticket for you. It won't give you email access everywhere, but there are lots of wifi hotspots these days, and you don't have to pay for access this way. It might even be faster than the current iphone model, which is too too slow. I suspect your frugal bones would have shivered at the long-term commitment of the iphone contract, in any case.
