It's been important for our girls to have that language already available to talk about skin color-- I'll be picking this one up as well! When I was very young I asked my Black friend why she was so brown. She said because she got a lot of sun. So I asked why her gums were also brown, and she said because she smiled a lot. It's been about 32 years or so, and we're still buddies. I LOVE that book and I LOVE your story!
