At the beach

We’re at Newport Beach for the next two nights. Theoretically we’re right on the beach but there’s a very long flight of stairs to get down to it. Still we can see it and hear it from our room, which makes for nice sleeping. (Although there’s only a queen size bed and they may have given away the roll-away we reserved so nice sleeping could go by the wayside. We’ll see.)

The Easter candy onslaught continues. The good people at the hotel handed over goodie bags (along with sand pails) when we checked in. I told the woman, “Thank you, that’s so nice! Only I don’t think my kids deserve this after their behavior on the drive over here.” And the woman said, “Oh just give them to them — it’ll improve everyone’s mood right off!” So I did and she was right.

Madison was afraid of the ocean at first but warmed up a couple hours into it. (Pictures coming up in the next entry.) Noah put on his swim suit and headed out with Brett even though March on the Oregon coast is no place for swimming.

Oh and we hit the Hanna Andersson outlet! I could have spent a lot more but a girl has got to be thrifty!!

  1. looks relaxing!
and do you think the flight to the hanna andersson outlet would pay for itself ? ;-) we need it - my daughter got really angry in a regular store lately and said “why is everything here trendy! why do they have to write things on the shirts! i just want plain, classic, things!”
went home and ordered from hanna andersson. she’s been wearing them every day since.

  2. Chanie, I very briefly worked at the Hanna catalog while I was pregnant with Noah (wanted in on the awesome employee discounts but morning sickness did me in) and they emphasize fabulous customer service. So if you call them and ask what’s on sale in your daughter’s size, they’ll work with you. On the computer system they can look at things from way back that are on sale but not listed in the catalog or on the site because there’s a really small number and there’s no “answer all your calls!!!” imperative so they can spend hours with you discussing things at length. Also you can call the outlets and ask about sale stuff.

I’m too lazy to do any of that but I have a friend who buys all her work clothes from the Hanna outlet!!

  3. I am SO JEALOUS! I mean… yeah, ocean, Klickitat Street (PLEASE take pictures if you can!), statues, those are all good, but HANNA. Oh, man. If I could afford it, all of my daughter’s clothes would be Hanna Andersson.
