Corrupting my youth
Noah is upstairs with his best friends dancing to kid hip-hop. (Lil Mama and Chris Brown.) This is my fault because I got Noah hooked on America’s Best Dance Crew. I’m voting for the JabbaWockeez and Noah’s all about Kaba Modern. (Go click those youtubes, seriously.) I’m all for my kid learning how to moonwalk but the kids who are visiting, their parents aren’t as into this stuff as we are.
Now go dig around and check out those dancers. They are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Seriously! How good are those crews?? I was a little skeptical of the show at first, but it is some good stuff!!
Who are you rooting for? Inquiring minds want to know! (Noah actually does call the 800 number after.)
Ha! I LOVE that show. I got totally addicted when I was on a JetBlue flight and watched like ten shows in a row. It was great. I love both JabbaW and Kaba, and I don’t think I could pick between them…
From the very first audition I thought BreakSk8 was amazing - I mean - come on - on skates??? But there’s only so much they can do so now it’s not as awesome. Over it! And I’m not gonna lie, the JabbaWokeeZ masks scared the bejeezes out of me at first, but they’re not so scary now
And they’re REALLY good! So that hels!
PS. I am sooooooooo glad those god-awful girl groups are GONE (aren’t they?). Awful. AWFUL. I liked the skaters too, at first.
I don’t get how that’s corrupting. Could you clarify? Sounds like they’re having fun to me.
Kandee, it’s the other kids. Their mom is distrustful/disapproving of all things pop culture but resigned. (The irony is that my homeschooled — and theoretically “protected” is the poor influence on her schooled kids. We joke about that.)
Hey, my 10 year old and I love this show too. We were big Fysh’n'Chicks fans, alas. I actually love all four of the remaining groups and will be thrilled w/whoever wins. Makes it even more fun.
Oh…! Good ‘ol homeschooling!
I am loving that show, too. I’ve gotten both my husband and son hooked on it. I’m a JabbaWockeez fan. But mostly I love watching my 4-yr-old try to imitate the moves. He’s actually pretty good - I’m hoping he’ll stay interested in dancing as he grows up. He’s already starting to tell me that dancing is for girls (argh!), which is why I initially tivo’d this show - to prove to him that boys can dance and be cool. He really loves anyone who does gymnastics or a freeze, or old-school breakdancing. Too fun!
