this woman’s work

Ok, here’s what I did on this blog:

1. Crashed it and had my account suspended.

2. Paid fifty bucks to get it back online.

3. Changed hosts for thiswomanswork.com leaving my other sites back yonder at siteground (for the record, if you’re not messing around with your site much siteground is fine but if you like to pretend to be techie, go where there is better support).

4. Moved my database and then reinstalled my wordpress over at new host (bluehost chosen because they supposedly are better about helping one fix one’s broken site even if it’s smashing their servers).

5. Spent hours and hours and hours trying to fix the site, which was showing up all of these blank pages caused, I believe, by php5 when siteground (I guess) was using php4.

I don’t know if it’s working now but it looks like I can see this page using a proxy (i.e., not through my own account, which was letting me because — oddly — if I logged into wordpress it let me back up and see the front page).

However it isn’t mailing comments to me. This is INSANE.

What would really help me is if you would let me know if you keep seeing a blank page (it might help to refresh your browser because it could be your cache handing back the site as it was before but then again, it might not).

I will keep on this between edits on a big project I should’ve been editing instead of trying to fix my blog. But I need my blog, dammit. I’m psychologically dependent on it.

But in the making lemonade department, I’m happy to be learning this stuff on my own blog. Learning opportunities! Yeehaw!
