Thursdays = Hell Days

Thursdays are homeschool gym/art days and this quarter I’m taking the kids so I can hang with my friends and see my sister (Lucia and Madison are in art together). Taking a big chunk of a day off makes me feel discombobulated. I love seeing the people I love but hate getting to my desk with my head all shook up.

I said yes to a bunch of small but easy assignments, which will fill up all the cracks in my days for a little while but would still like to take on more work because 1) I work extremely well with a full-plate; and 2) moneymoneymoney.

At that board meeting I blogged about yesterday I met one woman who said that she wants women to be rich not because she values money over, say, love and friendship but because with money comes power and with power comes change. She said, “How can we expect a bunch of men to understand what it is that we need and want when it comes to policy?” She’s all about women owning property, owning businesses and making serious cash. So I thought on this and on the way home decided to get rich. (Hear that, universe? I’m putting in my order!)

My ambitions have never really been about money (although they’ve been about solvency) and lately I’m thinking that perhaps this has been to my detriment. Besides which I really want Brett to build that office for me and so I need the stuff for him to do it. What the hell, right? Why not get a little wealthy while I’m over here filling up my datebook! When we stopped at the library yesterday I hung out at the business section for a little bit trying on some books.

Life is so interesting!!!

I also really really really want to grind this essay out because I’ve got a two-fold career going over here, which is one enormous reason I’m not writing much about adoption in this November, the happy-go-lucky Adoption Awareness (or BEWAREness month, as Suz says!) even though there’s so much to write about. I gotta save the ju-ju for my daily keyboard pounding.

  1. I know! I hate that you just can drop everything on Thursdays and do my rush work!
