Whoa. Hey. People — this isn’t ok

From Racialicious there’s word that the NYT is censoring some of the comments to the story that includes this stellar piece of humor via Tama Janowitz speaking to her daughter: “Well, you know, if you were still in China you would be working in a factory for 14 hours a day with only limited bathroom breaks!”

Says Carmen:

As if this post itself wasn’t bad enough, it turns out that comments from at least four different adult adoptees critical of Janowitz’s post have not been approved. So not only does The New York Times refuse to include contributors who are critical of certain adoption practices, it seems that they won’t even let critical comments through the gate!

What’s up with silencing the people who actually know what they’re talking about and who can actually speak to the adoptee experience?

We adoptive parents have had too much solitary time at the pulpit. It’s not that I think we adoptive parents ought to stop talking (because that would make me a hypocrite, seeing as how I love to talk) but our experiences have defined the public’s awareness of adoption for way too long.
