Smack head

I’m such a loud-mouth. I got in a debate with Jessica’s lovely boyfriend about (gulp) religion. Well, not religion so much as religious beliefs. And the thing is, I think we mostly agree only the language we’re using is different.

Sorta.

Other than that (and he’s so gracious that all the heated voice-raising was on my side) we had a nice visit tonight. Jessica carved the kids’ pumpkins (they look great, by the way) and Madison leaned in and said, sighing, “I love it when you visit!”

Man. I can’t believe we got in an argument about religion.  When am I going to learn to keep my mouth shut???

  1. Eh, now you’re REALLY family. :)
Have a knock-down, drag-out brawl about politics next time to make it truly official.

  2. Ally: lol, good point :-)

  3. That’s what I was going to say, it takes a relationship to talk about deeply held beliefs. It’s family.

  4. yeah, at least you aren’t tiptoeing around!
but forgetting that, i try to bite my lip a lot, and change the subject, or go take care of my kids or soemthing (sometimes after i’ve already stuck my foot in my mouth…)
then i relive it over and over and get mad and annoyed at myself after :-)

  5. That’s an easy one to get into with people close to you, so that’s a great sign :)

  6. Man…that is SO common in my family so yeah…you are definitely family. Now…if I could just keep my own darn oppinions to myself w/ strangers that would be a feat!LOL (Just got into it w/ someone at Ky’s ballet class over gay rights only to find out I was VERY outnumbered….next Friday should be interesting….they’ll probably be snickering about the tree-hugging liberal when in other areas I’m probably just like them…oh well…eventually I’ll learn to shut up too!LOL)

    So yeah…don’t feel too bad.

  7. If I can ever figure out a way to do it myself, I will let you know.

  8. I agree with many above. I wasn’t there, so what do I know, but it takes intimacy to argue with someone honestly. And now you have to let him forgive you and be gracious in spite of your flaws/differences/whatever it was!

  9. “When am I going to learn to keep my mouth shut???”

    hopefully, you never will
