… that the opening up of closed adoptions is inevitable in the age of the internet? Here’s another scenario where a reunion was instigated online (in this case, between siblings). If you’ve got an answer for her, please feel free to share it over there (she won’t be checking here for answers): My son would like to get to know me.   1. OK, you’ve just touched a subject I really need to talk about.

    With the internet it’s certainly possible for adoptees and first families to find each other. But I struggle with whether or not it’s appropriate for adoptive parents to involve themselves in opening their adoptions. The goal - openness - is such a good thing, but it is really OK for me as an adoptive parent to launch the process?

    If I don’t, though, over time the few clues there are may be lost.
