It’s a Monday (it’s a list day)
Aug 20, 2007 The Story of My Life
1. Noah had a slumber party last night to watch High School Musical 2. They pronounced it better than the first.
2. Madison was a hellion all weekend. I don’t know what that’s about.
3. When both parents are home all the time, there is no one to arrive fresh and rested to take over the parenting. Those technicolor fights? Not helped by hellion child or her older smart-mouth brother. The grown-ups in this household feel like they were run over by a cement mixer.
4. We’ve decided that having time alone together now is more important than it was before and will be scheduling biweekly meetings away from our delightful offspring.
5. I don’t know why I feel so damn ineffective when I got a lot done last week but I’m sure exercise will help.
I might have a real entry later if the muse comes and hits me upside my head. (sigh)

I read a short essay (or excerpt?) about a “midnight marriage” — it was sweet but also sad, as I’m still up working at midnight before falling into bed exhausted . . . Dh’s parents offered to babysit so he and I could have some time together yesterday. We used it (separately) to caulk and to dig up a tree so I’m not one to talk, but meetings/dates will be a very good thing.

Get help with the kids.. You need time together now that you’re both home with the kids.
It’s quite counterintuitive but then, so is the mumps vaccine. In fact, many things that definitely make life better are the opposite of what you might expect.
We’ve been working from home since just before the adoption of our only child, 7.5 years ago. We’re the happiest couple I know. We take a date night every week whether we need it or not. No work talk is allowed.
Good luck!
