We’re in beta

I’d love for you to go check it out, register (if you so choose) and play around then send me any bug reports. Drupal does not love IE so if it LOOKS funky on there, I’m not going to worry about it. Let me know about actual errors though or if you try to do something and it won’t let you.

OpenAdoptionSupport.com is now a full scope social networking site with:
–Live chats (one chat is always up and you can create your own to have with buddies);
–Forums (I’ll be adding to those but you can build private forums although you will then be responsible for modding ‘em yourself);
–Blogs, Guestbooks, PrivateMessaging;
–An event calendar to post conferences, adoption show airings, chats you’ve scheduled, etc. etc.;
–A news aggregator so you can see what google and yahoo stories on open adoption have recently gone live.

You can make your own groups — public or private — about anything that interests you. When you post something you can either have it public or private (like friends-only on LJ) and you can post it directly to whatever groups you’re part of. When you create a group you can make it open to everyone or invite-only so I’m hoping it’s a place where reformists, radical adoption-ites or just regular folks can find their people and spread their good word.

It’s supposed to be a one-stop resource and I may add some more mods as we go but now it looks pretty good. I just need testers (that means YOU!) and I did dump the old database so I’ll pull content from that (and email addresses so I can send invites once we’re out of beta) to add later.

  1. *goes off to register*

    Because I don’t have enough to keep me occupied during the day? ;)

  2. Registered! I’m looking forward to helping build OAS :-)

  3. I registered ;-)
    I heard recently that companies that start online forums or wikis pay people to “seed” the posts - lots of posts from apparently different users make new users feel like there’s stuff happening…
