I’m taking over the Faces of Motherhood column for Literary Mama. This is the column for underrepresented voices of motherhood, which is near and dear to my heart. I’ll still be doing Op-Ed (although I’m hoping — and the senior editors know I’m hoping — that they’ll find someone else to do that soon) but I’m really happy to get to do “Faces.”
And you know I really really really really really really really really want an essay from a first mom. Oh yes, you know I do. Actually I’d like more than one because there are lots of stories out there. (I’ll just have to spread ‘em out time-wise.)
I want to hear from moms whose motherhood isn’t honored. If you’ve got a story or know someone with a story, hit me up!!!

Awesome chica! I don’t think I know any first moms, but I’ll pass the word.

Congratulations!!!
I’d also like to hear from a grandmother raising her grandchildren as well. Just so you know…
That is some stunning editing, isn’t it. The use of also, and as well, really demonstrate just HOW MUCH I’d like to see this happen obviously…
Sigh. You know, i still have plans to do that essay you coached me on. The one about first moms getting scammed by people posing to be their children? You gave me such great advice and mentoring…i just havent had the time to really sit down and do it.
I dont know your timing, or the topic you have in mind, but if the stars align I would be happy to participate.
Yay you!

Hey–this is me, totally, and I would really like to write a piece for you but can I get specific parameters? I have a teen daughter who is OUT OF CONTROL and I cannot get any help, etc. Please advise. Thanks
The guidelines are pretty loose as far as word count, etc. If someone pitches me specifically, we can start talks about figuring out how to make something work.
