Singing
Apr 25, 2007 The Story of My Life
I meant to bring the camera down here so I could upload the pics from today but forgot. Noah’s choir performed for the first time and there is nothing like seeing your kid in a too-big white shirt, looking so messy but handsome (he needs a haircut) up on stage in a crowd of his friends, singing “May there always be sunshine, may there always be blue skies, may there always be mama, may there always be me” (only in Russian) to make a mom choke up. And take a lot of pictures.
My dad came along (as did Brett, of course) and Madison wore her smocked cherry dress, which made all the old ladies sitting to the side of the crowds fuss over her whenever she danced by. Something about a little girl in a smocked dress — it brings out the best in people.
Life is good. I’m trying not to worry about money because worrying doesn’t help and in fact makes things worse because it makes me feel paralyzed. So I’m taking a tip from KimKim (who answered my interview questions, please note) and thinking good thoughts whenever the bad ones creep in.
Yesterday Jessica came over and showed us her new Madison tattoo. I am so not hip to the body mod thing — even minor ink — but I love that she has one for Madison. My brother-in-law has tattoos for his kids that are copies of their first footprints (from the hospital) on his arm. That was my idea so I like to brag about his adorable tattooing even though I still can’t really embrace them. (Most of his tattoos are NOT adorable — especially the one in his mouth — but those two are.)
