  1. I dunno what to put in it, but maybe a monthly/quarterly newsletter to those of us in the database - a reminder that we’re there. Feature a few bloggers who have gotten gigs.

I’d also feature some of us who have gotten bloggin’ on the website itself.

    Hmmm…maybe some blog buttons?

  2. I signed up for it but it seemed to me that since I was a small name blog, that my information wasn’t valuable, for lack of a better word.

I never received any acknowledgement from the site once I completed the form…maybe I didn’t do it right. Who knows.

  3. I’ve read some of your references to this, but I still have no idea what it is, or what it’s for.

What’s the motivation to sign up? Do you have to do anything when you sign up? What do you get out of it? What’s the audience?

  4. roni — these are great ideas! I didn’t want to do a newsletter because some people adamantly DON’T want to be emailed but I can make it easy to opt-out.

dd — on the old site I had some posts about why small blogs matter. I’ll add those again. There’s huge value in niche blogs with a dedicated audience. Also, the confirmation emails seem to get stuck in spam filters like crazy. (This is why I made it that people don’t have to reply to an email to confirm sign-up anymore — too many people were getting hung out there without being able to confirm.)

Atlasien — there’s lots of info on the site but maybe it’s not all that clear on the site. If you’ve been over there, can you tell me what would help make it more clear?

  5. My computer doesn’t like the link.

  6. This is one area (of many) where I’m useless. Wish I could help!

  7. I thought the look and feel of the old gtb site was much more dynamic. I liked that there were articles on the front page that got updated and made you feel like you were involved in something exciting. Just my 2c worth…

  8. I haven’t heard anything from joining. I was just wondering if my blog is too small or something, so no one is interested in me. Or did I do it wrong? When I filled in the form I didn’t know what “unique visits” meant so I wasn’t sure if that was one way marketers would filter out who they are interested in (by how large your readership is and how much you get noticed). Does that mean how many new visitors you get every day? Or how many new sites come to you for the first time? Or how many readers find you by a search engine and may or may not stay to read more? Anyway I would like some type of newsletter to let me know I am still active and being seen there. And I think a blog button would be great - that would make it very visible. If we all had one on our blog and word of mouth would build.

  9. My page rank is pretty low. I registered once when you first posted it (in the old format) and never heard anything so didn’t follow up. Maybe I need to re-register?

  10. Yes, a button would be good… and… I’d like the newsletter too. I only saw this today. I’ll think hard and if I have any ideas I’ll come back to share.

  11. D. - Explain it to me and then I’ll give it a plug at my blog…
    :-)
