Rats.

My open adoption article got killed. It was waiting in the wings for awhile because the editor had to take some time off and they have since hired an open adoption columnist and the piece became redundant.

Bright side: I learned a lot in the interviews.

Ugh. I could use some shiny, happy news. I think it’s the cold/snow/lost-work-time that’s contributing to my trapped mood.

  1. Hi, there, haven’t stopped by recently - life is so busy!

I’m sorry to hear about the article, what a shame. Could you submit it to another journal or magazine?

    Hang in there!

  2. Rats indeed. I’m with Margie…resubmit!

  3. Ditto x 3.

  4. Bummer. BLAH!

  5. Oh, Jeez. That just SUCKS.

Agreed - where else can you try to place it?

  6. What?! The one you interviewed me for? I’m insulted for both of us.

  7. well, i too could use some cheering up.
(sorry to make this about myself.
i am starting to think i have a habit of doing that.)
i would love to see some recent pics of your children.
maybe that would make both of us feel better.

  8. It’s God’s will that you write books and wear funny hats and do interviews and get tons of royalties.

  9. Yes you should hang onto that article. Some new place to submit it will turn up no doubt. Sorry for the disappointment of today though…

  10. You are all very sweet! There’s no place else to send this — it was an assigned piece on the common pitfalls of open adoption and ways to overcome it. I may put it up at Open Adoption Support if I can find my administrative password (it’s on the old crashed computer!). But it’s way too specialized and written for their audience — it would be hard even to re-package it.

  11. That stinks. I bet it was great. They should have included it as an intro to their hiring a full-time open adoption person. As in, we learned so much from Dawn that we thought we should have regular open adoption articles.

  12. Awwwe Man! That stinks.
Please let us know if you post it. I definately want to read it myself. I sure hope you do. :-)
