What you need is sustained outrage…there’s far too much unthinking respect given to authority.
It is possible to read the history of this country as one long struggle to extend the liberties established in our Constitution to everyone in America. The thing about democracy, beloveds, is that it is not neat, orderly, or quiet. It requires a certain relish for confusion. Next time I tell you someone from Texas should not be president of the United States, please pay attention.

My mom got to meet her a few years ago, and found her an amazing speaker, and a wonderful person. She still has the autographed picture up on her office wall to inspire her (my mom is also a writer).

I heard some outtakes of interviews with Molly on NPR the other day. She was so sharp, and funny, and honest in the interviews as she talked about her life and writing.
