Brett finally got official word that he’ll be laid off this spring (they’re closing his office). This will be either his third or four lay-off (it all blurs together!), which is a sign that he’s in the wrong industry (insurance).

We’re both looking for jobs and whoever gets the best job first wins!

If you know anyone looking to hire a dazzling writer/editor in the Columbus area with tons and tons of experience AND lots of computer skills, why, let me know!

I’m not worried at this point because I don’t feel like we’ll be scrambling the way we might have been when the kids were younger (i.e, my going to work doesn’t seem like the disaster it might have been a few years back) so don’t worry about offering sympathy — we’ll be fine. But I’m serious about looking for work so heads up!

If only you were talking about Columbus, Nebraska…*sigh*

Eek! Okay, I won’t worry about offering sympathy, but – eek! I hope something comes up quickly and pays twice as well as what you have (between you) now! :)

i’ll keep my eyes open. these are the kinds of things that help you find exactly what will be perfect for you. i got laid off two weeks after we got the referral of the baby from india and out of work for six months. it was the best thing! i can’t wait to hear how things progress for you both!

It must be something in the air, we have similar news. We aren’t handling as gallantly as you are though! Hugs, and good thoughts for both of you.

I wish I had something better to offer but somehow I don’t think a part time writing tutor for a middle aged college student in San Francisco is quite what you had in mind? Is that a run on sentence? See what I mean?

    I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

    Best of luck, Dawn!!

Okay, I won’t express sympathy, but can I commend you on your courage?

Being in that position would scare me to pieces.

I’m impressed, and of course, I know one or both of you will find something with your many skills.

    I’ll be thinking of you.

I don’t have any job leads, so I can’t help you there. Good luck to both of you with the job hunt. I kind of like looking for new jobs — all that possibility…

I just watched “Mr. Mom” last night and that movie couple made the same bet. She won. :-) You seem to be looking at it as a new adventure. That seems a good way. Happy hunting.

Give me a shout I might be able to find a way to get you a gig in the interim, and maybe win the bet outright!
