I turned an article in four days early and then a check arrived that I thought I’d never see. (It was three months late and I was worried I’d have to write it off.) Today is a pretty good day, too, but I’m tired since Madison was up a lot last night with a cough. I’m going to try to work out during her nap and see if it revives me. (Have I mentioned Madison is growing out of her naps? Probably not because I’m in bitter denial.)

So … I got good feedback on my sample chapter and part of the feedback was that it’d make a great intro to my proposal — better than it would make a sample chapter, as a matter of fact. This turned out to be absolutely great news because:

  1. I knew I was going to have to have to write another chapter anyway because this one was too short by a lot;
  2. I was dreading rewriting the proposal because it seemed like an insurmountable challenge. And now I’ve discovered it’s already started! And that big problem (how to intro the proposal) is solved! Hooray!

I was hoping to have the first draft of the next chapter (now really the only chapter) done on Monday but I’ve changed my goal to having an outline done. I have another article due Friday and wrote a book review during work-time yesterday so I’m not sure how realistic it is to have the whole draft done.

By the way I’m finding having an accountability partner is huge (and at writing group last night, we set up a group accountability calendar). I highly recommend it.

    I think it’s great that you worked through the problem bits and now have very good pieces you can use.

    How inspiring that you are writing a book. I always wanted to write detective novels about an undercover cop who had a pug……..

    Fantastic – you do sound so organised and on top of things these days. Commiserations on the nap situation though.
    (BTW I’ve just been down to my local library and picked up three of the books you recommended. Am very excited to read something where the boy is not always in charge of the poor helpless girls!)

    Also commenting to commiserate on the nap situation. We are adjusting to no naps around here. I think its harder for me than the little guy. :-)
