Outstanding. A member of my famly personally benefitted from this type of support. KimKim, Cloudscome, ThirdMom, and many others all sent me gifts for the teen mom. Sadly, the teen mom ended up surrendering her child after three months BUT it was to a kinship adoption. She will know, see, etc. her child. She was deeply touched by all the support she got from all around the world and our words, efforts, etc. helped her in her decision to go with a kinship. Interestingly, she is also an adoptee herself AND named Alley! Just like the woman you ladies are sponsoring.

To Robs point, I can say that my cousin (the teen mom) really needed local support. She needed someome to come over and relieve her so she could sleep, she needed someone to call her on the phone and assure her that it was okay, she was okay, and that mothering is hard at any age. She needed a group of other young local moms to talk with and share with. She needed in person, emotional support. Lacking that, she was left depressed, lost, alone and feelign unworthy and incapable of caring for her daughter.

While the online shower idea is awesome, additions of local support, people, babysitters, therapists, social programs, etc. should be researched and provdied to her as well.

Blessings to all.

Response to Rob,
long term is a good point. The thing is Ally right now needs short term support, she can take care of herself but right now is in a very vulnerable position. She has finished college and is working but it's hard to be the sole parent and work fulltime and do all that when you are temporarily without your own home.

The way I see it is that we give her some support now, she gets confidence from that and we help her to get an appartment, she has the baby, we get her baby stuff so she doesn't have to be set back by that.

Ally has a college degree, she's a good mum but right now she needs some friends on side.

If you have ideas for long term please share them, I am good with short term but would value your input. I call it the big sister club but brothers are welcome.

Afrindie has organized this too, isn't it great. Now we can all be part of the online baby shower too.

Thanks for being part of our big sister club Dawn.

This sounds awesome. I'll see what I have.

Also, would you be willing to email the password? I remember old passwords, but I think I must need a new one.
