It’s just way too early
Madison is getting her formal pics today with Jessica and her boyfriend. I put her hair in little braids last night so she’ll have poofy ponytails today.
Last night Madison’s diaper leaked and as I sopped up the mess and maneuvered her still slumbering body around for a jammies change I started thinking about moving her to her own bed once I get back from Boston. Noah was about 2.5 when he started the move to his own bed. We’d start him there and then he’d wake up and crawl in with us but it gave us three or four hours each night kid-free. He didn’t full leave our bed — as in every night on his own, start to finish — until Madison arrived. But I’ll take half-a-night alone with my husband. That’s good enough for me.
So I think we’ll try that and see how it goes. If she’d wet her own bed last night at least it wouldn’t have been quite the emergency it was and I wouldn’t have had to dodge the damp towel all night. (Thus my exhaustion today.)
Ok, I need to get some coffee before I fall asleep right here on the keyboard.
edited to add: No, I’m wrong about moving Noah this early. He didn’t night-wean ’til 3.5 so we never put him in his own bed until then. Hmmm. Well, we’ll still try it after Boston. She’s more of a sound-sleeper than he ever was. (He was still up every two hours to nurse ’til I night-weaned him.)

Lately, Sunshine (nearly 9) has been crawling into our bed 2 or 3 nights a week. There is something that is scaring her, but she can’t/won’t tell us what’s up. I forgot how nice and snuggly it was to have that little warm body velcroed to mine. But now I just want to be able to move my legs. At least she is completely potty trained.:).
Hope you get a nap today.
Both my boys (age 9 and 4) still crawl into our beds in the middle of the night. I dont mind. Well, I do like the closeness and having them there but I dont like that my 4 yo likes to sleep horizontally while the rest of us sleep vertically.
[De-lurk] Rats, your archives don’t start until a half year after you night-weaned Noah. I would love to hear the story, since I really respect your parenting style. (We are thinking of night-weaning–earlier than Noah but my kiddo nurses every 30-45 minutes, lots of fun.)
9 year old only sleeps in own bed all night in last year and a half — 5 year old in bed every night (but crawls in around 3 or 4 am) 2 year old will likely be in my bed until she’s 12!!

Our first was around 3.5, our second more like 2 when they started the move. Partly because of personality, but I think it was also easier on the second being able to see how it worked for the first one.
My girls were under 2 when we moved them to toddler beds– they were getting way too acrobatic trying to get from crib to crib, but were getting too big to share a crib anymore! They came into our beds for about six months after we switched them, but then we got them cool rainbow canopies from IKEA and it was magic– they’ve been fine ever since.
