Mix Tape: Strength (1 of 6)

Noah had the throwing up thing going on yesterday but everyone is lovely and the tummies around here are now all (fingers crossed) settled. So I have time to mix tape!

#1 — Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around
The version of this classic protest song has a strange history. I won’t get into more (click the link if you want) because I want you to hear it before you start digging around about it. I don’t think Amazon has it so let’s hope we’re free and clear to stick it up here without a link elsewhere.

#2 Give Me Strength — Over the Rhine
The first time I heard this I thought it was Sinead O’Connor (that’s why she comes next in the series) but actually this band is closer to my hometown (they’re in Cincinnati) than to the Emerald Isle.

#3 I’m Not Your Red Football — Sinead O’Connor
This is no Troy but still nobody does righteous rage like Ms. O’Connor and this song never fails to get my heart pumping. I dedicate this song to The Blogging Birth Mothers ring. When I first picked this song for this mix tape, I thought of some of the angry, forthright, heartfelt and powerful writing I’ve seen around that ring.
