Work has stepped way way up
It gets like that sometimes. My work isn’t full-time but it’s on-call at all hours and so sometimes I come by here to check email and two hours later I’m still cleaning up some mess there. At least it’s pretty flexible although if I leave a to-do for too long it becomes a much bigger, much more time consuming issue.
I’ve got some editing to do today and then that’s it — I’m nearly assignment-free. I’ve got the one adoption article but that’s not due ’til September. I’m supposed to look at childcare this week and since Maddie’s breakthough, I’m really nervous about it. But I also really need it. (It’s no coincidence, I’m sure, that she keeps talking about the “Mommy Meeting” when we went to Mocha Moms and she and Noah stayed with the kids while I went to listen to the speaker. Or that she keeps saying she wants to go with me to my next writer’s group.)
I’ll just have to play it by ear.
Best case scenario for me is really someone who would come here to watch the kids but I haven’t had any luck scaring that up. And unless I was gathering social security numbers and paying social security to have a babysitter for a couple of afternoons, I’d also not get to use our childcare benefits at Brett’s job. So that’s the plus side of using this at-home care (where a mom I know and adore is working) — money.
I don’t know. Step by step and I’ll see what happens. Now I have to go edit a bunch.
