In My Opinion: Naming Madison
The first time we met our daughter’s birth mom, Jessica, we talked about many things – our lives, our jobs, the practicalities of an open adoption – and we talked about the baby’s name. Jessica knew she was having a girl (she sent us home with several copies of the ultrasound pictures) and she already had her birth name picked out.
“I named her Madison,” she told us. “I know you’re going to change it later and that’s ok but that’s going to be on her original birth certificate. Right?”
