Noah is managing well

He won’t put any type of lotion on his body (he’s lotion-phobic) and won’t put anything in his bath (he prefers clear water) but he’s not doing too badly. He had a fever last night but today he’s romping with his grandparents so he must not feel too bad. The itchiness is annoying but he hasn’t been scratching much; mostly he twitches.

I got some excellent feedback on the proposal yesterday and punched it all way up. I think it’s much more compelling now and I’m about to turn attention to the sample chapters. I think I’ll do the first chapter and the one on adoption (natch — it won’t require much digging since I have so many useful sites alread bookmarked). I am cautiously optimistic about it all right now. Cautiously.

It’s been fun to research in any case and fun trying to figure out how to sell it. Jennifer gave me the most useful piece of advice when she reminded me that editors will just be scanning the proposal so it’s important to really hammer on the best selling points. She said don’t be afraid to repeat yourself and don’t be shy about bragging. A proposal is no time for humility.

Madison is really really goind to miss Brett when he goes back to work Monday. (I will, too.) They’ve had a lot of fun together.

Shoot. I had a lot of thoughts before I got on here but now I’m coming up empty. I think all of this proposal-writing is using up too much space in my brain and there isn’t any left for blogging.

  1. Can you use witch hazel on chicken pox? It’s a clear liquid so it might not bother him as much. All I’ve ever used it for is sunburns and my hoo-ha after Xavier was born. Ah, cooling relief. Xavier’s favorite part of vacations isn’t where we go (usually to visit Papa and go to the beach and zoo) but having Mark home for a week or two. Nothing in the whole world makes that little boy(4) as happy as Mark not going to work.

  2. Oh, too bad that he’s lotion-phobic. I had visions of him doing a Cartman (filling the tub with lotion). Much love to him!
