More on writing an op-ed
Jan 28, 2006 Writing
So you’re thinking to yourself, “Gosh, I’d love to submit an op-ed to Dawn but I’m intimidated! I’ve never been published (or never published an op-ed) — how do I write one anyway? Help!” Or maybe you’re not but let’s pretend you are so I can get on with it.
Here are some resources about op-eds — what they are, how to write one, and other places to submit.
–Michigan State University tells you how to write a sharp, focused, short piece (that’s what makes a good oped)
–A thorough overview from DePaul University
–Yet more tips from Duke University
–Green Media Toolshed sums it up with ten points
–How (and where) to sell ‘em once you’ve written ‘em
–Opeds for activists and why they matter
So — you’ve got something to say about the latest news magazine cover story? About whatever has the blog circle where you live humming? A humorous take on a recent scandal? Are you outraged by the talking heads? If it relates to mothering (pretty broad — we blog readers/writers know that!) or writing, give us a shot!

To think of asking for such information, insight - is in itself difficult; so how fortunate that you are such a gifted and SHARING woman and one needn’t grovel
THANK you!
