This is so intriguing

On interfaith marriages: Matzah and Marinara

There’s a lot of (heated) discussion about adopted kids and conversion on this listserv I’m on. This blog entry (and the comments) have added to the discussion I’m having in my own head.

  1. We’re interfaith and I’m having a serious desire to delve back into my Jewish roots and community. Husband is not so thrilled with this. It was fine when I was non-practicing Reform Lite. Now? Now I’m wanting to maybe go to synagogue, become a more observant Jew…. it’s a little in his face and he’s not loving it.

  2. Thanks for the shout out Dawn :)
Anyway, Rainy, I feel for you. I am lucky that my husband encourages me to be as observant as I need to be. Sometimes we’re very observant and other times not so much. He is truly one in a million. In fact, I was laughing, the Israel Bonds committee called him last night to serve on the committee this fall. Not ME - HIM! LOL I do wish you peace though…it has to be hard to want so very much to be more observant and not have a partner who wants to journey with you.

  3. Oh wow! Thanks for opening up a whole ‘nother blogging world for me! Thank goodness we just got DSL. ;-)
Seriously, as a non-Jewish woman raising Jewish daughters (and oy, planning a Bat Mitzvah in less than a year!!) this is something that is always very real in my life.
