1. We’ve had a lot of guys with tape measures and things coming by our house since we decided to put it on the market. I’m expecting two of them today. It’s very disruptive. Theoretically we will be moving this weekend. I won’t believe it until I’m actually unpacking.

2. There’s an essay I really wanted to finish before Roberts’ confirmation hearings and did I? Ummm, not at all. I’ll blame the men with tape measures who have stolen way too many quiet nap times from me but the truth is I just didn’t get it done.

3. Brett and I have twisted ourselves into knots to find spiritual meaning to the hell that is house buying and selling. I think we’ve nearly succeeded. It cheers us up for those time we have to get the checkbook back out.

4. Murphy’s Law — you will not be paid on time whenever you actually need to count on your check. I’m starting to think my fun gig at “Breasts are Delightful!” is not so fun anymore. Plus, you know, all that hypocrisy on my part and stuff.

5. Now that we will be moving into a good school district people are going to get a lot less tolerant of our decision to homeschool Noah. Especially since we’ll be living half a block from is by all accounts an excellent elementary school.

6. Remember how after 9/11 local charities were feeling the pinch since their usual donations were heading to NYC? I’ve been thinking about that. The next load of toothbrushes and shampoo are going to a local shelter, I think.

7. Finally, I threw my neck out making it very painful to sit at the computer. Other than work, I think I need to stay off of it today.

  1. Dawn,

Check out this post, written by a very wise woman. Maybe it will help you gird yourself against the inevitable opposition. And help you weigh your current feelings about the shiny new school.

Although, without getting into too many details, I think the comments also reveal to the world some of the complicating factors. You might want to skip those, in the interest of bygones being bygones and all that. (My heart ached when I read them….)

Good luck with the moving crazies.
