Here comes trouble
Yesterday Madison
–took every single dirty diaper out of her diaper pail and then did a little dance in the stench;
–dug into the flower boxes and ate dirt before we pulled her away and took a picture of her mud-stained face;
–climbed into her booster chair that was sitting on the ground and then tipped over face-first after she got her feet stuck;
–are half the dog’s food.
See, we were all so busy doing house stuff (we have a lot to do before we go on the market) that Miss Madison slipped under the radar to wreak havoc. Common refrain this weekend? “I thought you had the baby!”
I’d post pictures but I’m still missing the cord to upload our camera.
Today the guys are coming to put in the new windows. I’m hoping they get it done quickly because it’s going to be hot today and we will all be very, very sad if we can’t run the air. They’re also delivering the kitchen countertops and Brett hopes to install them tonight. Things still left to do include:
1. Pack up the unneeded books for storage;
2. Pack up the unneeded toys for storage;
3. Comfort the weeping Noah (again) because he does not like change and he does not like his toys in storage — any of ‘em;
4. Tear down Noah’s bunkbed and put in a single bed so his tiny room looks bigger;
5. Comfort the weeping Noah (yet again) because he does not like change and he does not like his bunkbed to be in storage;
6. Get the living room carpet cleaned;
7. Replace the light cover on the ceiling fan that Brett broke while sweeping;
8. Paint the kitchen;
9. Paint our bedroom;
10. Clean and/or paint the stairs to the playroom;
11. Sort out what goes into storage in the basement;
12. Fuss about how expensive the storage place is going to be;
13. Clean up the toys in the backyard;
14. Comfort a weeping Noah (see the pattern?) who does not play with most of the baby toys in the backyard but who enjoys seeing them out there in case he ever did decide to play with them;
15. Lord help us, clear out the basement playroom, which will include much Noah-comforting that will stretch Mommy’s patience to her very limits.
Says Noah, “Why oh why oh why do we have to move? I don’t wan’t friends! I don’t want to ride my bike in the neighborhood! I don’t want a bigger room!”
This would be much easier if we had a house with which to entice him. Poor Noah. Poor tired Dawn and Brett. But oh happy happy Madison who is finally finding ways to do all of the terrible things she has secretly longed to do since her arrival! What joy! What mischievous creativity!
Oh and her second most favorite thing to do after getting into messes is to bring us one shoe and then stomp around the house wearing it. Just one, mind you. A single shoe makes her little heart sing.

Logan does the one shoe thing too. He’ll bring us both for help putting them on, then as soon as we are somewhere, or have been in the car “long enough” he’ll take one off. Just one is fine for him. I think he only puts on both in the first place because he knows he needs two on to leave the house.
He’s also a big fan of putting on one of our shoes. One big adult shoe on his tiny little two year old foot. It’s “stomps” better. So cute, though!
My kids just lose their shoes, so that anytime we want to go anywhere there is the big shoe hunt for at least three kids.
I’m sorry for you that Madison ran amuck this past weekend. But truly happy for me, I loved hearing about it!
