Smart Madison

This is a brag post. Today Madison got mad at me for not letting her strangle herself with the plastic ties to a trash bag. She yelled, she cried and then she walked over to the bookshelf and threatened to pull out all of the books, glaring at me. (She likes to pull out the picture books and we’re cool with that — usually — but she’s not allowed to pull out the big people books.) I’ve decided, of course, that her rebellion signifies brilliance. See, she wants to get back at me and she knows that the way to do that is to mess with my books. That is one smart cookie.

Here’s a list of her words as of today. I’m not including any that she’s only said once; they have to be in regular circulation: carseat, pizza, meow, tee (golf tee), whassat? (what’s that), clock, rawr (roar), guck (truck), gook (book) ou-si (outside), house, sit (and today she announced, “I sit!”), Cia (Lucia, her cousin), teehee (tv), “Oh wow!”, chick, dog, soft, shoes, water (I can’t spell this the way she pronounces it), car (said like a Bostonian), bruher (brother), daddy, ba-hul (bottle), dink (drink), bo (boat), bite (and she’ll point to the spot on her arm where the boy bit her if you ask her if she got bitten), star, doll (she knows the names we gave different dolls), ball, dance, yaya (banana), yayo (yogurt), snack, na-na (night-night), darts, tick-tick (tickle-tickle), duck, yeah, brush, ow-ya (flower), kick, toes, feet, nose (and she’ll beep-beep yours if you get her on a good day), cra-her (cracker), pets-uh (pretzal), bye-bye, hi, key, bear.

I try to write them down as she gets them so I think that’s all of her words so far but I may have missed some. (Oh and note no mama. If she wants me, she’ll call “dada.”)

  1. lol, my daughter Aiyana tries to toss my books when she is upset with me. Children are so smart!

  2. How cute!

Morgan used to say “gook” for “book” too. It was one of her favorites, and she’d say it every time she saw a book, which was quite a bit since they are all over our house. I was a little sad when she learned to say that word properly. I miss it.
