Somebody put a whole lot of effort into this: FOREVER AND EVER AMEN FAMILIES

The LJ adoption community is not happy about it but I don’t see that it’s a big deal as a stand-alone thing. If they’re infiltrating communities (I have no idea if they are or not), that’s very uncool but if this is just a big art/activism project, well, it’s a free country.

The thing about the antiadoption people is that they may be way too extreme in their point of view and way too unwilling to accept that adoption really does work for some people, but they have their points. And my gosh, are they committed to their cause.

I would think this was funny except that too many people are feeling seriously hurt by it. The way I figure, it’s not like they can actually do anything to anyone who has adopted, has placed a child for adoption or is adopted. They certainly can’t do anything to me or Madison or J (J and I have talked about the antiadoption people). Still, I understand that other people may feel more vulnerable and want these accounts deleted.

I wonder how it’ll all play out.

  1. Well also, these people are taking the profiles of people who are active in the LJ adoption community, and then changing a few words, giving them fake names, calling them “fat” etc., and then mocking them.

They are targeting certain people who have adopted instead of just a general “Adoption is wrong” stance.

  2. Dawn,
What does “LJ adoption” stand for and what is it that they stand for and what don’t they like?

  3. I’m sorry if this comes across as ignorant but I just can’t understand that site. Are they pro or against adoption? That site just made my head ache.

  4. HMBalison:

I think LJ is for Live Journal, the weblog software & server, and the” LJ adoption community” would be the group of linked blogs on Live Journal who write about their experiences with adoption.

  5. ty Julie…maybe, my sarcasm wit is slow…but I was very lost at that site also?
